THE BOAT SHARE SCHEME LAUNCHED
Well, after extensive research and positive feedback from our hire boat customers we’ve launched The Boat Share Scheme.
Boat share or shared ownership provides an affordable introduction to owning a narrowboat. Each boat sold is divided into twelve freehold shares. Each share provides its owner with up to 4 weeks cruising every year for as long as the share is owned or for the life of the boat. If the boat is sold then the sale price is shared equally between the owners. The annual running and maintenance costs (license, mooring, insurance etc..) are split equally between the owners – meaning that owners are less likely to be affected by rising costs compared with individual ownership.
The first boat being offered for sale within The Boat Share Scheme will be Aqua Vita – our brand new, five star hire boat. After just one season of use she will be docked for blacking, engine service, touching up of paintwork, installation of hardwood cratch/cover and the fitting of a manual satellite dish and receiver. The boat will then be handed over to the new syndicate of owners.
Our hire fleet will still run as normal and Aqua Vita will be replaced with a brand new boat for next years season – our 2009 hire prices will be online shortly.
Over the next week or so we’ll be adding an additional page to our website briefly outlining the scheme. Greater details of The Boat Share Scheme are provided in an Information Pack which can be requested by e-mail or telephone. The pack contains details of how weeks are booked, the cost of the shares, running & maintenance costs as well as a FAQ’s section.
Our aim is to make the buying of a share a clear and transparent process. To reassure our share holders we’re currently employing the services of L A Marine of LesterAldridge solicitors to ensure all the documentation provided with each share protects the interests of all parties involved.
Justin.
